USA: 2020 U.S. Presidential Election

USA: 2020 U.S. Presidential Election

The next US presidential election will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. It is a fairly complex indirect universal suffrage election.

Two main camps stand out in the USA during the American presidential elections: the Republican Party and the Democratic Party , to which are added minor groups such as the Green Party of the United States or the Libertarian Party. First, debates oppose the candidates running for the head of each party. Then, on February 3, 2020, the votes officially begin with the Iowa caucus: these are the primaries , at the end of which are nominated the presidential candidates – in July for the Democratic candidate, and in August for the Republican candidate. Candidates in the running can then officially start their presidential campaign. On September 29, 2020, the first presidential debate will take place, followed by two others on October 15 and 22, 2020. Finally, on November 3, 2020, American citizens will elect the Grand Voters from one side or the other, including the together will be called the “electoral college”. The next tenant of the White House will then have to rally half of the Electoral College, and therefore count the majority of the votes, namely the votes of at least 270 major voters, in order to become the new president. He will be officially proclaimed 59th President of the United States in early January and will be sworn in two weeks later.
